Learn to love yourself
Learn to love yourself
A shaved head doesn’t just change your physical appearance and how people look at you – because you will get a lot of stares. More importantly, it transforms your outlook in life. As a woman, society has fooled you into thinking that you have to look good for others. That you have to impress your friends, your boyfriend’s friends and family, your colleagues, a date, and even total strangers. In some cases, women also have to live up to the expectations of their own families.
On top of that, you have been programmed to have a certain look when playing a specific role. So much so that you have to look ‘decent’ when you’re out with kids, in a serious relationship, or married. Or that you should be “appropriately dressed” if you work in the male-dominated corporate world.
All these double standards against women and their appearance have changed how we view ourselves and the world we live in. It’s the reason why women care so much about their hair. When you shave your head and in essence, lose your hair, you will start noticing changes in your perception. You may feel insecure and awkward at first – this is normal. But as days go by, you’ll begin to develop a new sense of empowerment. You will be more accepting of yourself and care less about what people think of you. In turn, this will make you love yourself a little more.
