Berlin, Germany

Situated in Western Europe, Berlin is the cultural forefront of Germany. It’s full of exciting contrasts and surprisingly cheap, making it the perfect European city break destination for travelers on a budget.

Make your first stop at the historic park of Tiergarten. Within its boundaries is The Berlin Zoological Garden with over 1,500 species in its care. The Berlin Zoo also has an aquarium with a wide variety of aquatic life. Other attractions in the park include the Victory Column, the House of World Cultures, and Bellevue Palace. Make a quick stopover at the world-famous Berliner Philharmonie before heading for Kurfurstendamm. There you can eat dinner, enjoy a glass of German beer, and go shopping. When it comes to nightlife, there are many decent bars in Berlin – all available for your choosing.

Take a day trip to Potsdam and see the Sanssouci Palace in its glorious Rococo architecture. Travel to Gendarmenmarkt Square, one of the most beautiful squares in Europe. The square is home to several historic sites built in the 17th century. Namely, they are the French Cathedral, German Cathedral, Schiller Monument, and Konzerthaus.

Spend the whole day exploring the five museums on Museum Island. Marvel at their displays of art, antiquities, and artefacts from different eras of ancient Europe. Save the best for last by taking an evening trip to the Brandenburg Gate. It’s an 18th century Neoclassical arch.
